BORN: Born in Knox City (Knox) Texas on March 27,1934.

EARLY CHILDHOOD: Hortencia was born in Knox City, Texas. She is the second of ten children born to Camilo Ramirez and Bernardina Valladares. She was born in Knox City and lived there for a short while. The family moved to El Paso shortly after she was born. They lived there until 1940. Her father Camilo was sent to work on the railroad in a small town between Deming and Lordsburg, New Mexico, a few miles from El Paso. They lived there from 1940 until 1945. After that, they moved to El Paso for a short while and then on to California. Living in Castroville for a short while with her dad's brother (one of twelve). From there they moved on to the San Joachin Valley, north of Los Angeles (a mostly farming area). In 19__ they moved to Earlimart where she lived until she got married. She moved to Delano, California in 19__. .

EDUCATION: Hortencia attended kindergarten through fourth grade in New Mexico at the Lordsburg Independent School District (ISD) from about 1940-1945. The family then moved to California and she completed her elementary education at the Kettleman City ISD, graduating in 1948. She attended high school for one year at the Avenal ISD in California and another year at the Delano ISD for another year. She quit to go to work, get married, and have children. However, she went back to school after having her children and obtained her high school diploma from the Delano High School in 1964. She decided to further her formal education by attending Pasadena City College and took various courses in business, and computers. She did not get to complete all the requirements for her Associates of Arts (AA) degree)

MILITARY: Hortencia did not serve in the military.

CAREER: Hortencia went to work in 1951 after quitting high school. She worked at _____. She started working at Security Pacific Bank B.A. in Los Angeles in 1965 as an accounting clerk in the Trust Department. From there she went to Assistant Supervisor and was eventually promoted to Senior Trust Officer in the Financial Management Fiduciary Services. She retired in December 1990.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: Hortencia likes to go walking in the beach, which is a short distance from her condominium.

MARRIAGE: Hortencia married Ernest M Cuen on October 27, 1953 in ____ California. After Ernest's death she met Ronald McMenamy and later married him on April 5, 1982 in El Segundo.
