BORN: October 2, 1929 in Knox City, Texas. Isabel died in Wichita Fall, Texas on September 11, 2020.
RESIDENCE: Last residence was 807 Corwin, Wichita Falls, TX 76304 (940-723-9758). Isabel is buried at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, Texas.
EARLY CHILDHOOD: Isabel was born in Knox City, Texaa Texas. She was the ninth of ten children born to Rosalio Valladarez and Maria Bonifacia Godina. Her father, Rosalio Valladarez died before she was three years old. It was during this time that the family moved to a farm about 6 miles outside of Knox City, TX. Eventually moving into town about 19xx. She lived with her mother, Maria Godina Valladarez until she moved to Wichita Falls in 1952. She spent most of her growing years in the Rhineland/Knox City, Texas area, working as a farm laborer with the family.
EDUCATION: Isabel started grade school in 1939 at Knox City at the age of ten years, and attended school through fifth grade.
MILITARY: Isabel did not serve in the military.
CAREER: While growing up in Knox City Isabel worked as a field hand during the cotton growing season, hoeing in the spring, and picking in the fall/winter. In 1951-52 she accompanied her mother and brother (Leo) to Colorado and Minnesota to work in the beet fields; to Nebraska to pick potatoes; and Wisconsin to pick cucumbers. Afterwards moving to Wichita Falls, Texas. After her marriage in 1958 she was a stay-at-home mom and did not work except for raising her children. Shortly after her marriage the family (one son) took another trip north working as migrant laborers, again working their way from Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin picking mostly vegetables (potatoes, beans, etc.). Up until 1975 when she got her divorce, she had not been employed. She entered the labor world in the caretaker field working in various nursing home in Wichita Falls. From 1975 until her retirement in 1992 she worked at the Denver Manor Nursing, The Rolling Meadows, West Convalescent, and Monterey Nursing Homes.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: Isabel has enjoyed crocheting and embroidering as a relaxing pastime and hobby. She also enjoys her dogs and cats. A trait she has enjoyed most of her married live. In her early married years, her home was like a zoo, her husband and kids raising all kind of animal, both wild and domestic.
MARRIAGE: Isabel met Alfredo Villalobos in Wichita Falls, TX in the mid 1950's and was later married in August 1958 in Wichita Falls, Texas by the Rev. Cuevas. Isabel divorced Alfredo in 1975 after he was convicted of murder. She has not remarried.
